GLSA requires that Academy players register each season for $35. They are not required to roster with a GLSA recreational team. Academy players who are not rostered to a recreational team are not eligible to participate as a guest player on any other recreational team per North Texas Soccer Rule 4.6.1.
The purpose of Academy play is to provide recreational players who have aspirations of becoming a more accomplished player an avenue to test and enhance his or her skills and to provide recreational players an opportunity to investigate the level of play with which they are comfortable, which players they would like to play with, and for which coaches they would like to play
If you are registering a new team (new all together, or new to academy- even if they play recreation) please email Erika Escamilla at office@longviewsoccer.com for instructions on creating your Academy team PRIOR to registration.
Here is some quick information about our academy league:
Eligible Age Groups: The Academy League is strictly for true 7U–10U players and teams.
6U players are not permitted to play up on an academy team.
Dual Registration: Players can—and are highly encouraged to—play in both our recreational league and the academy league simultaneously!
Flexible Team Formation: Academy teams do not follow standard recreationalteam formation rules.
Coach-Managed Rosters: Coaches are fully responsible for registering their team in the league and managing/adding players directly to their roster.
All Games in Longview: To make logistics easy for families, all league games will be played locally at Lear Park.
Season Structure: Each team will be scheduled for an 8-game season.
Standings & Awards: Official standings will be tracked, and trophies/medals will be awarded to the top-finishing teams at the end of the season.
Team-Covered Fees: Teams are independently responsible for their own expenses, which include league registration fees, referee fees on game days, and uniforms.
