Frequently Asked Questions

When is registration?

Registration for the Fall season is during the first two weeks of July. Registration for the Spring season is during the first two weeks of January. Late registration is during the third week of those months. Your player may be put on a waiting list if you miss these dates, but there is no guarantee that you will be able to sign up. We take names from the waiting list only if we need to balance roster sizes in a particular age division.

Registration fees are $75 per youth player and $75 per adult player. 5U players are charged $60 plus an additional $40 to include a uniform and soccer ball. 6U through 8U players are charged $60. The late fee is $10 more per player. We offer a discount for three or more youth players of the same household. See our youth season newsletter and adult season newsletter for the fee schedule.

All registration is conducted online, correct payment is required, and all new players must show proof of age with either an official birth certificate or passport. A player will not be placed on a team until proof of age is verified.

Please see our International Clearance (ITC) tab under Programs.

Acceptable documents are an official birth certificate or a passport. Adult league players may show a valid driver’s license. Hospital, baptismal, or religious certificates will not be accepted.

GLSA is now part of the Xara Dinomites program for 5U only. Please visit http://www.xarasoccer.com/dinomites.aspx for information. 5U players are charged $60 plus an additional $40 to include a uniform and soccer ball.

All other age groups will either need to find a sponsor for all or part of the uniform costs or else the uniform will need to be paid in full by the parent.

5U and 6U players are put on teams based on a neighborhood public school zone as registration numbers allow. 7U through 19U players are put on teams to the best of GLSA’s ability by blind draw based on the school district they attend as registration numbers allow.

We honor requests as roster size permits for 5U, 6U, and brand-new 7U and 8U players only.

We allow 5U through 8U players to play up one age division; 9U through 19U players may play up to their ability. Please make note in the Request field if your player is playing up.

Repool means to remove a player from his/her currently rostered team and place on another team by blind draw. GLSA automatically repools all players in the Fall in the  9U age division only. This is mandatory and exceptions will not be made. A player may voluntarily request at registration to be removed from his/her currently rostered team and placed on another team by blind draw by selecting”Yes” to the question “Do you want your child placed on a different team?” during the online registration process.

The Fall season begins the first Saturday after Labor Day in September and ends the first Saturday in November. The Spring season begins the first Saturday of March and ends the second Saturday in May. The second and third Saturday of November and the third and fourth Saturday of May are reserved for rainout make-up games. Rainout reschedules may be held on Sundays.

Practices should not be held before 5pm since most parents do not get off work before this time. Coaches will need to find a location at a school, park, or church. GLSA offers practice fields, located at 415 S Molton Street, for rent during the season.

The games are played at Lear Soccer Complex, located at 100 Pals Parkway. 5U through 14U games are played on Saturday; 15U through Adult games are played on Sundays; 15U-19U may have weeknight games as well.

Coaches are instructed to call their players as soon as possible after the team assignment meeting. That date is listed on our season newsletter.

Players need shin guards, soccer cleats, and an age-appropriate ball.

5U to 8U: size 3 ball; 9U to 12U: size 4 ball; 13U to Adult: size 5 ball.

All registered players are covered by a secondary insurance through North Texas Soccer. Please contact the GLSA office for claim forms if your player is injured during the season.

All 5U through 8U players receive a participation trophy. Awards for 9U through 19U are determined by league standings and the number of places awarded is based on the number of teams in each age division. The breakdown can be found under Programs: Recreational. The Adult winning team(s) may receive a $200 credit towards T-shirts for the team or for next season’s team registration.

Academy soccer is an opportunity for 7U through 10U registered recreational players to increase their playing ability by practicing with experienced coaches. This does not take the place of recreational soccer, but enhances it. GLSA does not require Academy players to be rostered to a recreational team; however, a player’s recreational team is considered primary for games and practices. Please contact the GLSA office for more information.

Competitive soccer is a select level of soccer for players who are eligible for 11U through 19U age divisions. Teams are required to have tryouts and the selected players sign a year-long contract, pay a fee to be on the team, and travel to play games, usually to Tyler or the Dallas area.
