About the GLSA

The Greater Longview Soccer Association (GLSA) was formed in 1976. It operated its program on three fields at the YMCA and one field at LeTourneau College until 1979. There were approximately 60 players that first year. By 1980, it had grown to nearly 1,000 players and had to expand its playing facilities.

The Stroh’s Brewing Company , then Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company, leased its unused property at the intersection of FM 1845 and Cotton Street to the City of Longview for a token annual payment and the City allowed GLSA to develop and improve the site for soccer fields. Using volunteer labor and corporate donations, GLSA constructed six irrigated playing fields and a concession/storage building.

GLSA included over 2,100 players during the 1983-1984 soccer year and was considered the second largest program in the North Texas Soccer Association (NTSSA) outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. NTSSA boundaries stretch across North Texas from Louisiana to New Mexico, and as far south as Waco and Lufkin.

GLSA is not financially supported by any outside entity. The entire budget is derived solely from player registration fees,  two annual tournaments, and individual donations.

GLSA Mission Statement: Greater Longview Soccer Associations purpose is to ensure that each participant has an enjoyable soccer experience while placing emphasis on the development of players – Recreational, Competitive, and ODP,  while moving forward with his or her personal goal.

No animals are allowed at the GLSA fields. Please pick up all trash.
